About Bilingual SuperNoVas

Bilingual SuperNoVAs is a chronicle of my family’s journey through childhood bilingualism. Part inspirational, part informational, it combines my two passions: language and family.

When my husband, Vincent, and I had our first daughter, Morgan, she inspired my first baby blog, dadasleche.com. My first blog captured the essence of a new motherhood’s tear-filled enamoration and wonder at everything my little miracle did and said. It was a platform for my voice as a new mom when everything, including childhood bilingualism, was uncharted territory.

Six years later, my family, the Russells, have survived 1 big move to Northern Virginia, 4 Spanish immersion preschools, and 8 months of virtual Spanish. Vincent and I have been blessed with two bubbly bilingual daughters, Morgan and Emory.

We are far from beginners in this language immersion experience but we still have a long way to go. My blog is meant to inspire new parents, non-parents, college students, elementary students, and anybody who has considered second language learning but second guessed themselves and their situation. As I work on a book about our experiences, my hope is that my American family’s experience will remind you a little bit of your own, motivate you to work with what you’ve got to make a major change in yourself, and of your family legacy.
